MTV: Kristen Stewart Says ‘Twilight’ Role Is Harder Than People Think

Kristen Stewart in "Twilight: New Moon"It’s so hard to compare roles — [but playing Bella] was difficult for other reasons,’ actress says.

By Larry Carroll

BEVERLY HILLS, California — Ever since she broke through playing Jodie Foster’s tough, imperiled daughter in the 2002 hit film “Panic Room,” moviegoers and critics alike have been quick to praise Kristen Stewart’s acting skills. Now, the 19-year-old actress is back in theaters next Friday (February 26) with “The Yellow Handkerchief,” a romantic drama she was cast in after Foster recommended her to the film’s producer, six-time Oscar winner Arthur Cohn. But when it comes to which role was tougher to play — her “Handkerchief” rebel Martine or “Twilight” icon Bella Swan — KStew and Cohn disagree.

“I followed Jodie’s advice because she’s a great actress and director,” Cohn said of casting Stewart in “Handkerchief,” a love story featuring old and new romances blossoming side by side. “Kristen had an enormous sensitivity for an extremely difficult part. With all respect to ‘Twilight,’ I think this part was infinitely harder to pull off.”

Making matters more interesting, Kristen was only 15 when she landed the role. It wasn’t until “Handkerchief” hit Sundance in 2008 that she was even cast in the “Twilight Saga” films. But with all due respect to her producer, Stewart disagreed with his thoughts on which role was more difficult to pull off.

“No, I would say definitely not,” Stewart insisted, claiming that Bella is the more complicated portrayal from an actor’s point of view. “It’s so hard to compare roles — this was difficult for other reasons.

MTV: Kristen Stewart Wants ‘Eclipse’ Trailer To Show ‘Battle Stuff’

Kristen StewartThe newborns are going to look awesome,’ Stewart says of the third ‘Twilight’ film.

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Danielle Nieman

Though Twilighters are already salivating for the chance to see the first “Eclipse” trailer in theaters next month, star Kristen Stewart had yet to hear Thursday’s news that the trailer would make its big debut before Robert Pattinson’s “Remember Me” on March 12.

“Really? Oh my god! I have no idea!” Stewart told MTV News at the premiere of her latest release, “The Yellow Handkerchief.” “I didn’t even know it was coming out, so … that’s news to me too!”

Stewart did have an idea of what she’s eager to see in the trailer for the third “Twilight” installment. “Oh, my gosh! There’s a really cool thing that happens on a cliff with Jacob that should definitely be in there,” she explained. “Battle stuff. I would say the [newborn vampires]. The newborns are going to look awesome.”

MTV: Kristen Stewart Hopes ‘Eclipse’ Proposal Scene ‘Turned Out All Right

‘Well, to decide you’re gonna marry someone at 18 is a pretty hefty decision,’ the ‘Twilight’ star said.

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Danielle Nieman

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are getting married. Wait, it’s not what you think. In “Eclipse,” out in June, their characters Bella and Edward decide to take their relationship to the next level and get engaged.

But Stewart had some apprehensions about shooting that scene. She didn’t want the scenario of two teens, one being a vampire who happens to be many years older than his facade of 17, deciding to marry one another to look silly or unbelievable.

“Well, to decide you’re gonna marry someone at 18 is a pretty hefty decision,” she told MTV News from the red carpet of the premiere of her new movie, “The Yellow Handkerchief.” “And I didn’t want to look stupid. I didn’t want it to look like kids getting married. You know what I mean?”

MTV:Kristen Stewart Addresses ‘Breaking Dawn’ 3-D Rumors

Actress says she doesn’t want to give birth onscreen, ‘Avatar’-style.

By Larry Carroll

With “Avatar” riding high at the box office and everything from “Clash of the Titans” to “Alice in Wonderland” to the next “Spider-Man” film set on entering the third dimension, it seems like every blockbuster worth its salt is going 3-D. Now, the “Twilight Saga” fanbase is beginning to buzz with discussion over whether its eagerly anticipated final chapter, “Breaking Dawn,” should similarly leap off the screen. On Thursday (February 18), we caught up with Kristen Stewart — and she was quick to insist that she’d only do 3-D with certain limitations.

“I don’t know,” the 19-year-old superstar said with a laugh when told about the online movement to film “Breaking Dawn” with the same 3-D technology that made “Avatar” such an event. “I think that would be crazy!

“Maybe selectively, maybe,” Stewart added cryptically. “Maybe certain scenes.”

Of course, any Twilighter worth their Edward Cullen body pillow knows that in the final book of the saga, Stewart’s Bella gives birth. Let’s just say it’s a very vivid, very messy sequence, and one that Stewart told us she would definitely not want to shoot in 3-D.

“No, I don’t think that should be [in 3-D],” she laughed, admitting that the birth scene was among the moments she was suggesting should be “selectively” shot in normal 2-D. “Also, you don’t want Renesmee to be scary. You don’t want her to fly into your face.”

MTV:’Eclipse’ Trailer To Premiere Before ‘Remember Me’

‘Twilight’ fans will get to see the trailer when Robert Pattinson’s latest flick hits theaters March 12.

By Terri Schwartz

With the exception of an unrevealing promotional poster and a couple of (official) stills, Summit Entertainment has let fan hype create the majority of the buzz for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” which comes out on June 30. Now, three months after the release of “New Moon,” the series’ official Twitter revealed that the first “Eclipse” trailer will debut in theaters on March 12 before screenings of “Remember Me.”

The debut continues a trend of RPattz cross promotion that began when the trailer for “Remember Me” debuted before the November release of “New Moon.” Summit seems to be hoping the magic hype circle will work again, drawing “Twilight” fans to the theater to see Pattinson romance Emilie de Ravin and to catch their first glimpse of the third movie (unless, of course, it leaks onto the Internet ahead of time).

MTV:Kristen Stewart Says ‘Breaking Dawn’ ‘Absolutely Warrants’ Two Films

‘It would be much more satisfying to do [two films], because we wouldn’t have to drop so much of the story,’ she tells MTV News.

EVERLY HILLS, California — We’ve all been there: School is coming to an end, it’s time to graduate and the half of you who can’t wait to leave is doing battle with the half who will miss it.

These days, the “Twilight Saga” stars are grappling with similar feelings, looking at the end of a three-year process that has had them all go from little-knowns to household names together. So how does Kristen Stewart feel about the possibility of double “Breaking Dawn” movies that would keep their franchise in session a little bit longer?

“I am down. I wanna do it,” Stewart said of the increasingly real possibility that Stephenie Meyer’s final novel will be split into two films, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”-style. “I understand why they’d wanna do it.”

In the minds of some, Stewart and Robert Pattinson are talented actors in good positions to move past the “Twilight” franchise and onto other projects. To Twilighters, however, the longer this now A-list cast (including Oscar-nominated Anna Kendrick, “SNL” host Taylor Lautner, magazine cover girl Ashley Greene, etc.) can stay together, the better.

MTV:’Breaking Dawn’ To Become Two Films? Not Yet, Says Studio

‘Breaking Dawn’ To Become Two Films? Not Yet, Says Studio
While reports on the Web say the final ‘Twilight’ installment will be two movies, the studio is staying mum.

It’s something Harry Potter has blazed the trail for, “Twilight” fans have suspected for quite some time and several of the franchise’s stars seem eager about. Now, it seems, the word may finally be official: “Breaking Dawn” will be split into two movies.

The news was reported Thursday (February 11) by Deadline Hollywood, although it should be pointed out that many news outlets have “announced” the same fact over the last few months, all apparently premature.

“No decision has been made,” a representative for Summit Entertainment told MTV News after the Deadline Hollywood story ran. “As we have said all along, we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring ‘Breaking Dawn’ to the big screen.”

“I have this from several sources and it’s definitive,” the Web site insists. ” ‘Breaking Dawn’ is the longest in Stephenie Meyer’s four-book series lengthwise and it’s the most graphic — presenting birth, attempted murder, death and of course vampire bites. … Summit Entertainment no doubt could save money by making these ‘Twilight’ Saga movies #4 and #5 back to back and is currently looking for director or directors to helm both features.”
