Ashley Greene: New Moon Is a Heartbreaker

By Mark Gray

Giving their vampire and werewolf costumes a break, New Moon stars Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz headed to Nevada Saturday to celebrate Halloween and host the Yelloween party at Tao Las Vegas.

Lutz, dressed as Batman’s sidekick Robin, and Greene, plumed up as a peacock, hit the red carpet as hundreds of Twilight Saga fans gathered to get a glimpse of them, while the two actors skillfully ducked any question that didn’t pertain to their upcoming movie. New Moon opens Nov. 20.

MTV: Exclusive ‘New Moon’ Scene: Bella’s Birthday Comes To Life

Clip from ‘Twilight’ sequel premiered on MTV’s ‘Ulalume: Howling at New Moon.’

By Larry Carroll

Reunited, and it feels so good. A new exclusive clip from November 20’s “New Moon” is sure to rock the socks of Twilighters worldwide. After a year of feverish anticipation, the Cullen clan is finally reunited for Bella’s birthday — and for Stephenie Meyer fans, that feels very good.

As seen on our movie special “Ulalume: Howling at New Moon,” the scene occurs near the beginning of the “Twilight” sequel and sets many of the film’s major plot developments into motion. It also reveals several new lines of dialogue that seem destined to become instant classics for Twilighters.

“Dating an older woman, huh?” Emmett Cullen (Kellan Lutz) teases, leaning over toward Edward (Robert Pattinson) as the vampire family gets together with their human friend to celebrate her birthday.

The architect of the beautiful Bella bash, Alice (Ashley Greene), excitedly runs around and organizes the gifts, handing one to Nikki Reed and saying, “You first, Rosalie.” The beautiful vamp, who is less-than-thrilled about the blossoming Edward/Bella romance, halfheartedly thrusts the package toward Bella (Kristen Stewart).

“It’s a necklace,” Bella says, extending an olive branch. “Alice picked it out,” Rosalie responds icily.

MTV: ‘New Moon’ Stars Answer Your Questions - Except ‘Boxers or Briefs’

Kellan Lutz has gotten that uncomfortable interview question one too many times; plus Nikki Reed and Edi Gathegi.

By Larry Carroll

A year ago at this time, Twilighters all over the world were counting down the days until they could finally see Edward and Bella on the big screen. And one of their favorite time-passers was a series we ran called “Twilight Stars Answer Fans’ Burning Questions.” Now, with “New Moon” just around the corner, it’s time to reignite the flame.

Once again, we’ve taken the questions that fans posted on MTV.com, the MTV Movies Blog and Hollywood Crush straight to the “Twilight Saga” stars. Some are serious, some are funny, and more than a few are, well, perhaps a bit too personal. But, once again, Stephenie Meyer’s brave thespians have risen to the challenge with honesty and openness and reminded us why the fanbase loves them so much.

So read on — and then feel free to post more of your “burning questions” in the comments section below as we’ll have plenty more “New Moon” interviews in the coming weeks!

MTV: Dakota Fanning Says Jane’Blows Your Mind’ In ‘New Moon’

‘It’s more fun to play a bad person than a good person,’ the actress adds.

By Jocelyn Vena

If director Chris Weitz’s shining endorsement of Jane’s evil nature wasn’t enough to prove to Twilighters that Dakota Fanning has officially joined the dark side in “Twilight: New Moon,” a new interview with Fanning herself adds fuel to the fire about just how bad Jane is.

“I think it’s more fun to play a bad person than a good person,” Dakota told “Extra” about the evil Volturi vampire. “She almost blows your mind how evil she is.”

Weitz recently shared with MTV News that the dark role seemed like a perfect career move for the normally sweet Fanning. “She’s never really gotten to play a bad person before, probably because she is a very good person. She is really a lovely young person. But I think she had some fun playing, really, the most evil of all the bad guys,” Weitz said. “[Jane]’s bad news. Very bad.”

The Vampire Craze: An In Depth Analysis of The Hottest Male Vampires

Brace yourselves.

This may come as a complete shock.

Vampires are sort of, what’s the word, in right now. I mean, if you haven’t been living in Antarctica this past year, you may have noticed a very obvious trend. Remember way back in the day when every guy wanted to be Neo from The Matrix because he had that cool trench coat and could do sweet flips? Those days are long gone. Today it’s all about fangs and an aversion to sunlight. Goth is back. Pale is the new tan.

And really, we shouldn’t be all that surprised. Vampires are hot. They don’t age. They look good in black. Some of them have inner-turmoil issues. Granted, they drink blood and that’s kind of gross, but so are hot dogs and most of us love those. Who are we to judge?

Let’s embrace this trend. Instead of rolling our eyes at the plethora of Twilight memorabilia lining the walls of every store, let’s take a moment and analyze why there is so much Twilight memorabilia lining the walls of every store. And I’m not talking about dissecting the literary merits of the books (because what would I write about after the first paragraph?). Instead, I want to focus purely on sex appeal (you know, what’s important). Costume and make-up designers work hard to create these gorgeous male bloodsuckers, and it’s time to give them credit where credit is due. Here’s a countdown of the greatest, most stunning, most please-bite-me-now creatures of the night ever. I’ll tell you what works, what doesn’t work, and why I want - no, need - to be alone in a dark alley with them.

MTV: ‘New Moon’ Director Chris Talks Bella and Jacob Kiss

‘I can assure you we’re staying very, very close [to the book],’ Weitz says.

By Terri Schwartz

“New Moon” trailers have established fairly clearly the basic premise of the film: Edward leaves Bella. Bella is sad. Jacob helps Bella feel better.

For anyone familiar with “Twilight,” they know the central love story surrounds the human Bella Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen. It is the onscreen interaction between stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson that fans are paying their good money to see — to the point, Bella’s aural hallucinations in the novel have become visual onscreen, so that the two can have more screen time.

So fans were a bit concerned when they saw what looked to be a kiss between Bella and Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black in the second theatrical trailer. As a quick spoiler, in the novel Bella and Jacob do have an almost-kiss, but it is interrupted.

MTV: ‘New Moon’ Director Chris Weitz Hasn’t Seen ‘Eclipse’ Footage

‘I’m excited to see finished stuff from ‘Eclipse’ rather than anything in progress,’ director says.

By Terri Schwartz

With filming on “Eclipse” wrapping up, we couldn’t resist asking “New Moon” director Chris Weitz whether he had seen any of the footage from next summer’s blockbuster. He hadn’t, he said, because he’s been busy working hard to bring fans “New Moon,” which hits theaters in less than a month. Surprisingly, he said he didn’t really want to see the footage yet.

“As a fan and a filmmaker, I’m excited to see finished stuff from ‘Eclipse’ rather than anything in progress,” Weitz said. “When you see works in progress, there’s always some guy standing in front of some big green curtain, and it’s all terribly disappointing. You really want to see the good stuff once it’s all finished.”

After “New Moon” was finished filming , Summit Entertainment announced that David Slade would be directing “Eclipse.” Weitz said he had some early chats with Slade to let him know what “New Moon” was going to look like and how he had filmed the story, and then let Slade decide how he wanted to film the series’ third installment.

“It was like the transition team, so I could kind of let him know where things are going,” Weitz said. “The transfer of power was very successful. The transition teams coordinated extremely well.”

MTV: ‘New Moon’ Director Chris Weitz Says Wolf Pack Has Gotten ‘Scarier’

Taylor Lautner’s wolf in the first teaser trailer ‘wasn’t the full-fledged, pimped-out wolf,’ Weitz says.

By Terri Schwartz

For fans paying attention to the new “New Moon” TV spots that came out over the past week and a half, they would notice that the wolf Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black transforms into looks a bit different than the original wolf in the first teaser trailer.

Well, that’s because it is different — about 500 times different.

“Every CGI shot goes through sometimes hundreds of iterations,” director Chris Weitz explained. “Like, for instance, that first shot we put out was a work in progress. It was probably version 150 or something. That shot itself is now at version 550, I think.”

Lots of tinkering went on in the four months from when the first trailer was released until the most recent teasers, but that’s not even the final version that’s going to be seen in theaters. “We’re still tweaking them to the last possible day,” he said.

With the release of “New Moon” less than a month away, that day looms ever closer. Fortunately, the wolves are looking significantly more terrifying than they did the first time around.
