MTV: Dakota Fanning Says Jane’Blows Your Mind’ In ‘New Moon’

‘It’s more fun to play a bad person than a good person,’ the actress adds.

By Jocelyn Vena

If director Chris Weitz’s shining endorsement of Jane’s evil nature wasn’t enough to prove to Twilighters that Dakota Fanning has officially joined the dark side in “Twilight: New Moon,” a new interview with Fanning herself adds fuel to the fire about just how bad Jane is.

“I think it’s more fun to play a bad person than a good person,” Dakota told “Extra” about the evil Volturi vampire. “She almost blows your mind how evil she is.”

Weitz recently shared with MTV News that the dark role seemed like a perfect career move for the normally sweet Fanning. “She’s never really gotten to play a bad person before, probably because she is a very good person. She is really a lovely young person. But I think she had some fun playing, really, the most evil of all the bad guys,” Weitz said. “[Jane]’s bad news. Very bad.”

MTV: ‘New Moon’ Director Chris Weitz Calls Dakota Fanning’s Jane ‘Bad News’

‘She had some fun playing, really, the most evil of all the bad guys,’ Weitz says of the actress.

By Terri Schwartz

Next month’s “New Moon” release features a number of changes from its sequel’s debut this time last year. There’s new director Chris Weitz; a new cast of characters, including bad vampires and a wolf pack; and Taylor’s Lautner’s 30 pounds of muscle.

But one of the most exciting changes from last year’s “Twilight” is purely visual in nature: shooting the third act of the film on location in Italy.

“Wow, am I glad we were able to shoot there,” Weitz said with a laugh in a recent phone interview with MTV News. “We went to about 12 different hilltop towns in Tuscany, which was both delightful and exhausting, because it had to be done relatively quickly. Montepulciano had the most symmetrical main square that I could find, so that was the winner for that reason.”

Fans can expect about 20 minutes of the film to be spent in Italy or in interior shots set in Italy. While trailers released for “New Moon” show hints of flashbacks featuring the Volturi, Weitz said most of the time is dedicated to the present day.

The use of color in the film is a big change from “Twilight,” especially with the striking use of red shown in the trailers during a festival in Italy.

Twilight Examiner: ‘Best’ Fight For Robert Pattinson and Dakota Fanning, Pattinson Versus Rachelle Lefevre

At this year’s MTV Movie Awards, we all know, The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Robert Pattinson and his Twilight co-star Cam Gigandet won the award for “Best Fight” for their vampire-to-vampire show-down in the 2008 film.

Yet, that is not the only fight we’re going to see out of Pattinson in the Twilight series.

In The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, we will also get to see some fighting - with his female co-stars Dakota Fanning (co-starring with Kristen Stewart in The Runaways) and Rachelle Lefevre.

In the book, New Moon, Edward and Jane (Fanning’s character) have an altercation near the end of the story. While there was no fist-to-fist contact in the book, as there was in Twilight with Gigandet, Pattinson stated in an interview a while back that there would be a lot more fighting in The Twilight Saga: New Moon than we might expect. He was to be thrown around by a lot of people, Fanning included, in this piece of the series.

Celebuzz: Michael Sheen Talks ‘New Moon’

New Moon’s Michael Sheen: Dakota Fanning Looks “Unsettling”

by Celebuzz

Michael Sheen has been tweeting all sorts of scoop since arriving in Vancouver to film the Twilight sequel New Moon.

The Frost/Nixon actor, who plays Volturi clan head Aro in New Moon, is keeping the Twi-hards atwitter via Twitter, dispensing brief on-the-scene dispatches.

One of the more eyebrow-raising revelations is that he finds his castmate Dakota Fanning, who’s handling the role of Jane in the upcoming film, “unsettling.”

“Met [Twilight author] Stephenie [Meyer] yesterday on the set,” Sheen tweeted on Friday. “She was very charming and enthusiastic and very positive. Keep forgetting how freaky I look with my red eyes.”

Twilight Examiner: Robert Pattinson Thrown Around

While two days ago, Michael Sheen (who will play Aro in The Twilight Saga: New Moon) was among the to-be Volturi vampires (Dakota Fanning and Jamie Campbell Bower included) to arrive in Vancouver, he was a bit scraggly at the time (see also the many other faces of Michael Sheen here). Now, it appears that he has prepared himself for filming by cleaning up a bit.

Lainey Gossip, who always brings us many pictures (check her out for more pictures) of the Twilight cast, reported on the events of the day by providing new photographs of Michael Sheen out and about, with a new look, and some information on the filming process to go along with it. Says she:

Twilight Examiner: Who’s Next For ‘New Moon’

Now that New Moon has Michael Sheen and Dakota, who’s next? (spoilers)

Summit Entertainment has been surprising Twilight fans left and right lately with its relatively constant cast-updates of late for The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Though no official word has been given yet, we feel sure that Easter Sunday’s news that Michael Sheen will portray the Volturi Aro is as reliable as were the reports that Dakota Fanning would be joining the cast as little (but powerful) Jane.

As we discussed yesterday (see here), there are still a number of spots up for grabs. Taking the rumors that Justine Wachsberger will be Gianna (the human secretary for the Volturi) to be true, what’s left?

MTV: ‘Twilight’ Fools’ Day

‘Twilight’ Fools’ Day! Blogs Report Robert Pattinson’s ‘New Moon’ Exit

Sites play a cruel trick on Twilighters, saying Edward Cullen will be played by Zac Efron, Taylor Lautner instead.

By Jocelyn Vena

Late Tuesday night, mere hours before it was officially April Fools’ Day, blogs started to report that Robert Pattinson wouldn’t appear in ”Twilight” sequel “New Moon.”

All the sites had different reasons for RPattz’s exit from the film. PopSugar reported that he wanted out due to all the fan frenzy surrounding him and that he hoped to stick to smaller films in the future. The blog also said Taylor Lautner would assume the role of Edward Cullen.

“Enraged fans have already started sending costume vampire teeth to Robert as a plea to get him back,” the post read. “But it looks like he’s sticking to his decision.
