MTV: ‘Twilight” Fans Still Hyperventilating Over ‘New Moon’ Trailer

‘I am still freaking out and have not come down from the high I felt watching the new trailer,’ one Twilighter writes.

By Kathleen Newman-Bremang

There were plenty of “Twilight” moments packed into Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards — Kristen and Rob’s almost-kiss, the Best Movie win, Kristen’s fumbled Golden Popcorn — but the one thing fans can’t stop talking about (or watching) is that long-awaited “New Moon” trailer.

Deadbolt: 5 Twilight Moon Men Appear For New Moon Trailer Debut On MTV

5 Twilight Moon Men Appear for New Moon Trailer Debut on MTV

by Nadya Vlassoff

Although Twilight fans sat on the edges of their seats on Sunday night, eagerly anticipating the premiere of the official New Moon trailer, there were plenty of colourful moments and unexpected surprises at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Aside from the New Moon trailer hype, Sacha Baron Cohen wowed the crowd with an angelic, but revealing high wire act above Eminem as Baron flew down to present the award for Best Male Performance. In a moment of self-parody related to his previous MTV awards appearance, the infuriated rapper stormed out of the ceremony after his bodyguards manhandled Cohen for his intrusive antics. Despite the crash landing, all eyes were on the Twilight leads of New Moon as Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner took to the stage to accept multiple awards in various categories.

Leading up to the official trailer for New Moon, MTV.com posted an announcement that the trailer would be broadcast on the website at 7:45pm to ensure that Twilighters wouldn’t be crashing their site for the exclusive trailer that was premiering on the show. As Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart waited to take the stage to present the trailer, it wasn’t hard to imagine all of the Twilight Saga fans that were salivating for a first look of the New Moon footage. While there has been plenty of speculation about how director Chris Weitz will translate the second novel in The Twilight Saga to the screen, the New Moon trailer certainly delivered in amping up the action factor and revealing the intense conflict between Twilight characters Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, as Edward leaves Bella alone in the woods.
