MTV: Jackson Rathbone Wants ‘Zombie Stanley Kubrick’ To Direct ‘Breaking Dawn’

Jackson Rathbone‘Twilight’ actor also weighs in on whether ‘Breaking Dawn’ should be in 3-D.

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias

Should “Breaking Dawn” be in 3-D? While all the “Twilight” stars have their own opinions, with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart not really digging the idea, MTV News caught up with Jackson Rathbone to get his take.

“I think some films work in 3-D, and some films don’t,” he told MTV News on the orange carpet at the Kids’ Choice Awards over the weekend. “I don’t necessarily think it should be 3-D, but, hey, you know, it’s up for the production to decide.”

Rathbone also weighed in on who should direct the flick. There are several big names up for the job — including Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola, Bill Condon and Stephen Daldry — but Rathbone has his own idea. “I’m really pulling for them to resurrect Stanley Kubrick and have him helm the film,” he joked. “I’m really hoping for that. I want a zombie Stanley Kubrick to direct ‘Twilight 4.’ ”

MTV: Kristen Stewart Hopes ‘Eclipse’ Proposal Scene ‘Turned Out All Right

‘Well, to decide you’re gonna marry someone at 18 is a pretty hefty decision,’ the ‘Twilight’ star said.

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Danielle Nieman

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are getting married. Wait, it’s not what you think. In “Eclipse,” out in June, their characters Bella and Edward decide to take their relationship to the next level and get engaged.

But Stewart had some apprehensions about shooting that scene. She didn’t want the scenario of two teens, one being a vampire who happens to be many years older than his facade of 17, deciding to marry one another to look silly or unbelievable.

“Well, to decide you’re gonna marry someone at 18 is a pretty hefty decision,” she told MTV News from the red carpet of the premiere of her new movie, “The Yellow Handkerchief.” “And I didn’t want to look stupid. I didn’t want it to look like kids getting married. You know what I mean?”

MTV: ‘Eclipse’ Screening Rumors Aren’t True Studio Says

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse"A studio rep tells MTV News there were no previews of the third ‘Twilight Saga’ film over the weekend.

By Jocelyn Vena

After news spread that Summit Entertainment was holding “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” test screenings over the weekend, testimonials began to appear online from fans who had the chance to see the flick. The only problem? There was no test screening, so the testimonials were anything but accurate.

A source close to the “Eclipse” production told GossipCop.com that rumors of the screening are “absolutely not true.” Also, any testimonials being published online on sites like Alex’s Memories are equally untrue. The source said specifics around any trailers and screenings for the flick have yet to be announced.

“There is absolutely no merit to this claim,” a Summit Entertainment rep confirmed to MTV News about reports of the screenings. “We noticed it over the holiday on multiple message boards and sites, and it appears that some of this was spam.”

OK! Magazine: Twilight Saga: New Moon’s Charlie Bewley Says ‘Eclipse’ Will Be ‘Dark And Vicious’

Twilight star Charlie Bewley speaks to NIKKI BARR about just how different the third film, Eclipse, will be

NEW Moon star Charlie Bewley says the third film in the Twilight Saga, Eclipse, is going to be very dark.

Charlie Bewley, who plays Volturi vampire Demetri in Twilight Saga: New Moonand Eclipse, says the next installment is set to be very different than the first two films.

Speaking exclusively to OK.co.uk, Charlie revealed that director David Slade is going to add a nasty tone to the vampire love story.

He told us: “David is a master of mood. Eclipse has this different mood about it, it’s dark and vicious. You get to see the brutal nature of vampires and what they are really capable of, which is something we haven’t really seen in the first two movies.”

And the star told us David works very differently to New Moon director Chris Weitz.

He said: “They are very different directors. David understands what each scene needs [to create the dark mood] – absolute fine tuning. He might stop the scene halfway through and just tweak something before saying: ‘Go back, say that word again and I want you to put the emphasis on that’.

“It’s very controlled and when I was on set I found myself not being able to be as theatrically elaborate as I was with Chris’ film. But that’s exactly why David has been brought on board - to make this a more real film. Eclipse is going to be more real.”

But Charlie says Chris was happy to let the stars develop the characters themselves while filming New Moon.

He added: “Chris is someone who is massively organised in his work and he is meticulous in his preparation towards something, purely because the stuff he does is on such a grand scale and it was with New Moon.

“He scouted out Montepulciano [the village in Tuscany used for the clock tower scene in New Moon], they visited every single village in Italy to find out the best place to shoot this thing and they got it just right.

‘New Moon’ director Chris Weitz: ‘This was made for the fans, and if you don’t get it, then you don’t get it’

by Nicole Sperling

Chris Weitz just joined the ranks of a very select group of directors such as Chris Nolan and Sam Raimi who have opened their films above the $100 million mark. The news is sweet revenge for a man who had his last film The Golden Compass complete re-cut by his previous studio bosses. Check out our Q&A with Weitz where he reveals his favorite cast moments and how he’s dealt with the fan adoration and the paparazzi intrusion.

MTV: ‘New Moon’ Fans Think Movie Deserves Oscar Nominations

‘Let’s give young people a chance to win some Oscars,’ says one New York Twilighter.

By Eric Ditzian

Could two disparate 2009 news stories combine to make an unlikely third? In June, the Academy of Arts and Sciences announced that the Oscars’ Best Picture category would expand from five films to 10. And this past week, “New Moon” opened to a staggering $140.7 million at the domestic box office. Is it possible that a vastly more inclusive Oscar race could welcome Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s vampire saga to its esteemed contest?

Critics certainly reacted strongly — and often negatively — to “New Moon,” but moviegoers came out in droves, and after the mega blockbuster “The Dark Knight” failed to nab a Best Picture nod in 2008, the Academy might be looking to make a change. Or not. The idea of vampires joining the likes of Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman in “Invictus”) seems a bit of a stretch. Yet the Twilighters MTV News spoke to at a recent fan event in Times Square were certain “New Moon” deserved some Oscar love.

“They always give the [nominations] to the boring movies,” said Vanesa Reyes, who said she and her friends planned to see the movie four or five times over its first weekend. “Let’s give young people a chance to win some Oscars. It’s time for a change.”

EW.com: ‘New Moon’ Team Edward or Team Jacob Debate Continues

New Moon’: Team Edward or Team Jacob debate continues

by Mandi Bierly

Sometimes it’s hard to be a celebrity. November 2009 is one of them. Chances are, stars will, at some point this month, be asked if they’re on Team Edward or Team Jacob. I myself asked The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder to enter the debate recently during a Pop Culture Personality Test interview (so totally legit line of questioning!), and having never read the books or seen the first film, he was unable to choose a side.

MTV: ‘New Moon’ Director Chris Weitz Calls Dakota Fanning’s Jane ‘Bad News’

‘She had some fun playing, really, the most evil of all the bad guys,’ Weitz says of the actress.

By Terri Schwartz

Next month’s “New Moon” release features a number of changes from its sequel’s debut this time last year. There’s new director Chris Weitz; a new cast of characters, including bad vampires and a wolf pack; and Taylor’s Lautner’s 30 pounds of muscle.

But one of the most exciting changes from last year’s “Twilight” is purely visual in nature: shooting the third act of the film on location in Italy.

“Wow, am I glad we were able to shoot there,” Weitz said with a laugh in a recent phone interview with MTV News. “We went to about 12 different hilltop towns in Tuscany, which was both delightful and exhausting, because it had to be done relatively quickly. Montepulciano had the most symmetrical main square that I could find, so that was the winner for that reason.”

Fans can expect about 20 minutes of the film to be spent in Italy or in interior shots set in Italy. While trailers released for “New Moon” show hints of flashbacks featuring the Volturi, Weitz said most of the time is dedicated to the present day.

The use of color in the film is a big change from “Twilight,” especially with the striking use of red shown in the trailers during a festival in Italy.

MTV: ‘New Moon’ Kiss: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart Heat Up In New Scene

Fourteen-second lip-lock conveys the pair’s mutual desire and sense of danger.

By Larry Carroll

In the “Twilight” Nation, every leaked shot is cause for celebration, every new piece of footage is reason to skip school, and every new glimpse of Robert Pattinson is the highlight of a given week. It’s no surprise, then, that the Internet is abuzz with a never-before-seen clip from “New Moon” that features a scintillating smooch. OME, indeed.

“It’s still my birthday,” Bella (Kristen Stewart) asks in an early scene from the November 20 “Twilight” sequel, noticeably swallowing her fears over a blossoming romance with vampire Edward Cullen. “Can I ask one thing? Kiss me.”

The clip plays for only 47 seconds but will undoubtedly be replayed for hours by drool-heavy Twilighters wishing they could get a similar wish on their next birthday. Looking like he’s about to cry, RPattz leans in and lets KStew wrap her hands around his face, simultaneously kissing his leading lady and conveying the sense that Edward is battling back the temptation to make the human his late-night snack.

The two star-crossed lovers swap spit for 14 seconds, each moaning to convey their mutual desire and sense of danger. Edward doesn’t say a single word during the clip, but he doesn’t need to.
